Private Transfer from Innsbruck Airport to Alpbach

First decide where in Alpbach you are going

Many local addresses consist of Alpbach followed by a house number. The number is therefore more important than it may initially appear.

Three useful reference points show how the destination is distributed:

• Alpbach village centre and Congress Centrum: The Congress Centrum is at Alpbach 246.
• Wiedersbergerhornbahn: The main gondola base is at Alpbach 311.
• Inneralpbach: The Pöglbahn base is at Alpbach 698, farther into the valley.

These addresses are reference points, not substitutes for an accommodation address. A hotel in the village centre and an apartment in Inneralpbach require different final approaches. If the reservation says Inneralpbach, retain that destination rather than shortening it to central Alpbach.

Reith im Alpbachtal is a separate municipality. The route passes through or close to Reith before reaching Alpbach, but a Reith address should not be booked as Alpbach.

Most of the journey follows the Inn Valley motorway

From Innsbruck Airport, the usual route joins the A12 and travels east through the Inn Valley. It leaves the motorway at the Kramsach/Brixlegg/Alpbachtal exit and continues towards Brixlegg before following the L5 Alpbacher Straße through Reith and into Alpbach.

The route does not cross a high Alpine pass. Most of the distance is covered on the motorway, while the final section climbs from the Inn Valley to the village at approximately 1,000 metres above sea level.

Under suitable conditions, the route covers approximately 58 kilometres and takes around 54 minutes. This is an estimate rather than a scheduled duration. Congestion on the A12, roadworks, snowfall and winter maintenance on the L5 can increase the journey time. An Inneralpbach address also requires a longer final section than a destination in the village centre.

The public transport alternative

There is no direct bus or train from Innsbruck Airport to Alpbach. The practical public transport route uses three separate services:

1. Bus F from the airport to Innsbruck Hauptbahnhof
2. A train from Innsbruck to Brixlegg
3. VVT bus 620 from Brixlegg via Reith to Alpbach and Inneralpbach

Bus F takes approximately 20 minutes to reach the main station. The complete journey depends on how well the airport bus, train and regional bus connect. Check the current VVT connection before travelling.

Overnight guests may be eligible to use the regional bus from Brixlegg or Wörgl to their accommodation without a separate fare by showing a written accommodation confirmation. This applies to the regional part of the journey, not automatically to the airport bus and train. Check the current conditions with the accommodation or transport provider.

Public transport is a reasonable option for one passenger with light luggage and a suitable arrival time. A private transfer removes both changes and avoids moving suitcases or ski equipment between the airport bus, railway platform and regional bus.

Airport transfers for conferences in Alpbach

Alpbach also receives international visitors attending conferences, seminars and the European Forum Alpbach. The Congress Centrum is located at Alpbach 246 in the village centre, within walking distance of many local accommodation providers.

Event organisers sometimes arrange additional transport from airports or railway stations. Check the information supplied with the event registration before making a separate booking.

If no organised service fits the flight, an AlpExpress transfer can be booked either to the Congress Centrum or directly to the accommodation. Use the actual first destination. A venue pickup and a hotel pickup should not be treated as interchangeable when planning the return flight.

Booking the airport pickup and return

For an airport pickup, provide the flight number, passenger count, complete destination address and a mobile number that will work in Austria. Declare every suitcase and any skis, snowboards, bicycles, pushchairs or other large equipment so that the booked vehicle has suitable capacity.

Baby seats, child seats and booster seats are available free of charge when requested in advance. Include each child's age in the booking. The booking system displays the current price for the complete selected vehicle rather than a per-passenger fare.

After baggage collection, the driver meets passengers in the public arrivals hall with a sign displaying the booking name. AlpExpress monitors the supplied flight number and adjusts the airport pickup if the flight arrives late. Contact AlpExpress if the flight is cancelled, diverted or assigned a different flight number.

For the return journey, supply the exact pickup address and flight departure time. Allow for the drive down the L5, conditions on the A12, airline check-in and airport security. Do not use the normal driving estimate as the complete departure buffer, particularly in winter or when starting in Inneralpbach.
