Neustift is not one drop-off point

The name Neustift can refer either to the main village or to the much larger municipality. Kampl and Neder are reached before Neustift-Dorf. Milders, Krößbach, Gasteig and Volderau lie progressively farther into the valley; Falbeson, Ranalt and Mutterberg are upper-valley destinations. Scheibe, Schaller and Oberbergtal also appear in local addresses.

The Stubai Glacier valley station is at Mutterberg, not in Neustift village centre. It is roughly 43 kilometres from Innsbruck Airport and is not interchangeable with the central Neustift route. If you are travelling directly to the glacier, enter the valley-station address rather than selecting Neustift as a generic destination.

For hotel and apartment stays, use the address shown on the accommodation confirmation. This allows the correct route, price and return pickup to be assigned from the beginning.

From the airport into the Stubai Valley

The usual road route leaves Innsbruck towards the A13 Brenner motorway, crosses the Europabrücke and exits at Schönberg. From there, the B183 continues through the Stubai Valley past Mieders and Fulpmes before reaching the first Neustift districts.

There is no high Alpine pass on the journey. The displayed duration is a useful estimate for the route record under normal conditions, not a guaranteed arrival time. Traffic around Innsbruck or Schönberg, conditions on the B183, snowfall and the precise destination can all change the duration. For an upper-valley address, the additional distance is often more important than the traffic itself.

Public transport is a practical option for Neustift

Neustift is better connected by public transport than many resorts farther into the Alps. Bus F links Innsbruck Airport with Innsbruck Hauptbahnhof in about 20 minutes. From the main station, Stubai Valley Regiobus services 590, 591, 592 and 593 run towards Neustift and continue to different points farther up the valley. There is no direct public bus from the airport, so the journey requires at least one change.

The Stubaitalbahn is another route into the valley, but the railway ends in Fulpmes. For most Neustift addresses, the regional bus from Innsbruck Hauptbahnhof avoids adding a rail-to-bus change in Fulpmes.

Holiday guests staying in the Stubai Valley may also be eligible for the tourism association's free arrival and departure voucher. A separate voucher is required for each traveller and each journey. Check the current VVT journey planner before travelling, because stopping patterns and frequencies vary by service and season.

For a solo traveller with light luggage and a well-timed arrival, public transport can be the sensible choice. A private transfer costs more, but removes the change in Innsbruck and continues beyond the bus stop to the accessible accommodation address.

When a private transfer is most useful

The difference is clearest for families, groups and travellers carrying skis, snowboards, pushchairs or several suitcases. Everything declared in advance is loaded once at the airport rather than moved between the airport bus and a regional service.

AlpExpress monitors the flight number supplied with the booking. After baggage collection, your driver waits in the public arrivals hall with a sign showing the booking name. If the flight is cancelled, diverted or given a different flight number, contact AlpExpress so that the pickup can be updated.

Declared skis and snowboards are carried without a separate equipment charge. Baby seats, child seats and booster seats are available free of charge when requested in advance; provide each child's age when booking. The confirmed fare applies to the complete selected vehicle rather than to each passenger and includes the stated taxes and road tolls.

Enter these details before choosing a vehicle

Use the full accommodation address, including the district name, and provide the correct flight number, passenger count and a reachable mobile number. Add every suitcase, ski or snowboard bag, boot bag, pushchair, bicycle and other oversized item. Passenger capacity alone does not show whether the luggage will fit.

If your address is in Kampl, Milders, Volderau, Ranalt, Mutterberg or another named district, retain that name in the booking. Replacing it with Neustift centre can produce the wrong journey estimate and pickup point.

Returning from Neustift to Innsbruck Airport

Do not calculate the pickup time by subtracting only the normal drive from the flight departure. Allow for the drive from your actual district, airline check-in requirements, airport security and a margin for road or weather conditions.

Guests staying farther up the valley travel through central Neustift before continuing via Schönberg and Innsbruck to the airport. The complete pickup address is therefore just as important for the return journey as it is on arrival.

Frequently asked questions

How long does the transfer from Innsbruck Airport to Neustift take?

The AlpExpress route estimate for central Neustift is around 30 minutes for approximately 28 kilometres. Kampl is reached earlier, while Milders, Volderau, Ranalt and Mutterberg require additional travel. Traffic, weather and the exact address can increase the journey time.

Is Neustift the same destination as the Stubai Glacier?

No. The Stubai Glacier valley station is at Mutterberg within the municipality of Neustift, but it is considerably farther up the valley than Neustift-Dorf. Enter the valley-station address when that is your actual destination.

Can I travel from Innsbruck Airport to Neustift by public transport?

Yes, but not on one direct service. Bus F connects the airport with Innsbruck Hauptbahnhof. From there, current Stubai Valley Regiobus services continue to Neustift. Check the VVT journey planner for the connection serving your district on the travel date.

Which Neustift destination should I enter when booking?

Enter the complete address from your hotel, apartment or chalet confirmation, including a district such as Kampl, Neder, Milders, Volderau or Ranalt. Do not replace a specific upper-valley address with Neustift village centre.

What is the closest airport to Neustift im Stubaital?

Innsbruck Airport is the nearest airport. Munich and Salzburg can offer different flight options, but both require a substantially longer onward journey.
