Ried is reached along the valley floor

The usual journey joins the A12 eastbound through the Inn Valley. At the Zillertal exit, the route leaves the motorway, passes through the Brettfall Tunnel and continues along the B169 past Fügen and Uderns before reaching Ried im Zillertal.

No high-alpine pass, toll mountain road or final resort climb is required for an accommodation address in Ried. The Hochzillertal valley station is in Kaltenbach, not Ried. Hochfügen is reached by a separate mountain road from the Fügen area. Although Hochzillertal and Hochfügen connect on the mountain when the lifts are operating, their road approaches remain different.

Book Ried when the accommodation confirmation gives an address in 6273 Ried im Zillertal. Select Kaltenbach for the Hochzillertal valley station or another Kaltenbach address. Choose Hochfügen for accommodation or a meeting point in the high-altitude resort.

Do not confuse the two Tyrolean villages called Ried

Ried im Oberinntal is a different municipality in the Landeck district, west of Innsbruck. Its postcode is 6531. Ried im Zillertal has the postcode 6273 and lies east of Innsbruck in the Zillertal.

Using the full place name and postcode prevents the booking system from calculating the wrong route, fare and pickup time.

Public transport is a credible alternative here

Ried is easier to reach by public transport than many Tyrolean resort villages because it has its own Zillertalbahn stop.

A typical journey from Innsbruck Airport uses bus F to Innsbruck Hauptbahnhof, a mainline train to Jenbach and the Zillertalbahn from Jenbach to Ried. There is no direct train from the airport, and the complete journey depends on the connection available on the travel date.

The station can be convenient for central accommodation. It may be less practical for a property on Riedberg, a late arrival or passengers carrying several suitcases, ski bags or children's equipment. For a solo traveller with light luggage and a suitable daytime connection, public transport can be a sensible option. A private transfer removes the two changes and continues directly to the accessible accommodation address.
