The mountain road from Zell am Ziller to Gerlos

The final section distinguishes Gerlos from destinations on the main Zillertal road. From Zell am Ziller, the B165 gains substantial elevation through mountain bends and exposed sections before reaching Gerlos at around 1,246 metres. Snowfall, reduced visibility, maintenance and traffic towards Gerlos, Königsleiten and Hochkrimml can require slower driving.

Provide the complete accommodation name, local address, house number, postcode and a reachable mobile number. The transfer ends at the accessible address rather than automatically at the Dorfbahn, Isskogelbahn or a central bus stop.

Gerlos and Gerlosberg are different destinations

Gerlos is the resort village reached east of Zell am Ziller on the B165. Gerlosberg lies on the mountainside above the Zell am Ziller area and uses different local roads. Choose Gerlos only when the postal address is within Gerlos, normally postcode 6281. The complete address prevents an incorrect route, price and return pickup.

Gerlos, Königsleiten and Hochkrimml are separate destinations

The destinations share the Zillertal Arena but are different transfer endpoints. When travelling from Innsbruck, Gerlos is reached before Königsleiten and Hochkrimml. Accommodation in either of those resorts requires additional driving and should be booked using its actual destination.

The toll section is not required for Gerlos

A normal transfer to accommodation within Gerlos approaches from the Tyrolean side through Zell am Ziller and does not require the toll section of the Gerlos Alpine Road towards Krimml. Routes to destinations further east depend on the exact address and current conditions.

Winter Saturdays and holiday traffic

Delays can develop on the A12, at the Zillertal exit, through Fügen and Kaltenbach, near Zell am Ziller, on the B165 climb and on snow-covered local roads. For return journeys, allow for valley traffic, winter weather, airline check-in and airport security.
