Travelling from Innsbruck Airport to Ischgl

The journey follows the Inn Valley west from Innsbruck towards Landeck. Near Pians, the route leaves the main Arlberg corridor and enters the Paznaun Valley. It then continues through the valley past See and Kappl before reaching Ischgl.

The transfer covers approximately 113 kilometres and normally takes around 90 minutes in suitable traffic and weather conditions. The actual journey time depends on traffic through the Inn Valley and Paznaun, winter road conditions and the exact accommodation address.

There is one main access road through much of Paznaun. Congestion in the lower valley can therefore affect the complete journey to Ischgl.

What makes the journey to Ischgl different?

Ischgl lies in the Paznaun Valley rather than Ötztal. The final section follows the valley road shared by traffic travelling to See, Kappl, Ischgl, Mathon and Galtür. Local vehicles, buses, hotel and delivery traffic, coaches and private transfers all use this corridor.

Your driver will use the safest and most appropriate route for the conditions on the day.

Winter Saturdays and peak travel periods

Winter Saturdays can be particularly busy because many ski-accommodation bookings begin and end on the same day. Possible delays may occur around Landeck and Pians, at the entrance to Paznaun, through See and Kappl, and on the approach to Ischgl. Snowfall or difficult road conditions can slow traffic even when the road remains open.

This is especially important for the return transfer. Pickup planning should allow for possible winter traffic as well as airline check-in and security requirements.

Travelling during summer

Ischgl is also a summer destination for hiking, cycling, mountain biking and alpine activities. Holiday weekends, events, roadworks and cyclists can still affect journey times. Bicycles and other large equipment must be declared during booking.

The regular transfer from Innsbruck Airport reaches Ischgl through Landeck and the Paznaun Valley. It does not depend on the Silvretta High Alpine Road.

Airport pickup and arrival in Ischgl

After collecting your luggage, meet your driver in the arrivals hall at Innsbruck Airport. The driver will be holding a sign displaying your name. We monitor the flight number supplied during booking and adjust the airport pickup if your flight is delayed.

Mathon lies beyond central Ischgl in the direction of Galtür. Select the actual location of your accommodation so that the correct distance, price and journey time can be calculated. If a property uses Ischgl in its marketing but is physically located in Mathon, book Mathon as the destination. The same applies to accommodation in Kappl, See or Galtür.

Travelling with skis, luggage or children

We do not charge a separate fee for declared skis or snowboards. The required vehicle category depends on the number of passengers, suitcases and equipment. Declare skis, snowboards, equipment bags, bicycles, pushchairs and unusually large luggage during booking.

Families should provide the number and ages of children. Baby seats, child seats and booster seats are available free of charge when requested in advance.

Returning from Ischgl to Innsbruck Airport

The return journey should be planned more cautiously because delays can affect airport check-in and boarding. The pickup time should account for the journey through Paznaun, congestion around Pians and Landeck, motorway traffic, winter weather, changeover days and the exact accommodation location.

Provide the complete departure address and a reachable telephone number. Do not enter central Ischgl when the accommodation is in Mathon or another nearby village.
